Christina had a TMJ closed lock condition that needed extensive dental orthotic  wear (mouth piece) and physical therapy. She had severe pain and could open only 15 mm when we first met her.

A dental orthotic holds the jaw in its therapeutic position while the inflamed TMJ heals.

With the completion of here TMJ therapy she had 4mm of excess freeway space to close. Orthodontics was the dental option of choice.

For here orthodontic therapy, Christina wore vertical elastics to erupt the posterior teeth as we gradually removed acrylic from her mouthpiece. Establishing a solid vertical bite position was the key to the maintenance of her new pain-free TMJ.

Note the ideal overbite and overjet, correct midlines and proper tip and torque of the front teeth.
